That’s ultimately the goal of GETDOT’s April beneficiary. The organization known as Future Possibilities (FP) provides kids from under-served communities a positive role model to help them develop life skills and achieve important goals.

Daniel Newkirk, FP board member, says the board has nearly doubled in size to support a “re-invention” of the behind-the-scenes work to prepare for next year.

This includes focusing on the relationships they have with their volunteers (known as “KidCoaches”), ballooning marketing/awareness efforts, and hosting more informative/recruiting/fundraising events than ever before.

The goal?   More schools, more kids, more impact.
The organization is focusing on the real impact their coaches have on kids, as well as the impact the kids have on the coaches, he said. In fact, people who visit FP’s Facebook page are seeing the hashtags #realimpact #futurepossibilities on posts.

It’s about keeping a common theme in everything members within the organization do.

The impact of imparting goal-setting qualities to these children is huge, Newkirk said. Those skills and understanding are exceedingly helpful in all areas of their lives – from graduating and choosing a career to important family and relationship decisions.

“We communicate that to our potential volunteers as well as the possibility to be impacted by the process of helping the kids understand their true potential,” he said. “The coaches are truly impacted and positively affected by the relationship they build with a new kid each year and the perspectives that are discovered and developed throughout each year.”

GETDOT and Future Possibilities are excited to be collaborating more often. Members from FP have made a greater effort to be present at GETDOT events throughout the course of the year.

“As I am in my first year of chairing Outreach for FP, I look forward to taking what I learn from my experiences this year and taking what we have as a relationship to the next level,” Newkirk said.

Here at GETDOT, we’re certainly glad to have them! Come out and support Future Possibilities with us on April 7th!
