Chris Cochran’s path to his own recruiting firm has stretched from the City of Angels and back.
The entrepreneur founded Cochran Executive Search in April 2016, right here in Ohio’s capital city.
“I specialize in advertising, marketing, communications of any kind and more. I’ve done a lot of different searches over the last twenty years,” he said. “The purpose of my business is to make people and companies happier by bringing them together. I achieve this through my executive search service and a leadership development program I’ve developed, Hire Learning Leadership, that helps organizations hire better and hire faster. “
Let’s step back in time to 1998 for a moment. Cochran had taken the experience in design, marketing, advertising, sales and communications he’d cultivated in Columbus and voyaged to Los Angeles. It was here he landed at the executive search firm of Brown, Van Remmen, Kanuit.
“Surrounded by great people in this boutique agency environment, I gained the understanding of what it takes to be the preferred search partner of the largest advertising agencies and marketing companies in the world,” he said.
Nine years of success passed. He expanded into corporate talent acquisition by joining Maritz, the world’s largest source of integrated performance improvement, incentive travel and market research services. And in 2009, he returned to his home to Columbus and joined Portfolio Creative.
“As a member of the leadership team, I led them into executive recruiting and new markets for their staffing services. I left as Senior Director, Client Services to start Cochran Executive Search,” he said.
Cochran offered some words of wisdom for those seeking work.
“Make meeting and talking with people a priority over online application submissions. Who you know continues to be important as ever,” he said.
We recommend meeting Chris Cochran. Seek him out at a future event.
“Capability and adaptability are what make me an ideal search partner and these are what give me an edge in helping place people. I will work together with you to understand your ideal cultural fit and your goals, both as a client or candidate,” he said. “My past experiences in executive recruitment, corporate talent acquisition management, freelance staffing and responsibilities as a human resources generalist all comprise the skills I leverage to exceed my client’s and talent’s expectations.”
He imparted a little more lasting advice:
“Expand your view. Explore your opportunities. Enjoy your journey.”
